Game 1 of 3: Monday, June 11, 7:07 EDT, Rogers Centre
After some ninth inning heroics by Roger Bernandina and Bryce Harper sealed a win and the series sweep over the Red Sox yesterday, the Nationals send Edwin Jackson (2-3, 3.11 ERA) to the mound to face off against Brandon Morrow (7-3, 2.90 ERA).
Over his last four outings, Edwin Jackson has put together a 2.20 ERA, a .577 OPS against and notched four quality starts, but has only come away with a 1-2 record while the team during those starts was 1-3. This was due to some horrific run support for three of those four games (2 runs of support over 3 games combined). Jackson recieved some much needed run support in his most recent start that led to him securing the win. Jackson fares quite well against most of the current Blue Jays lineup, but unfortunately has been hit very hard by both Colby Rasmus and Jose Bautista and those numbers boost the teams aggregate numbers significantly.

Brandon Morrow has always been known as a guy who could be scary if he ever put it all together, and to date this year, he’s once again shown flashes of putting it together but also had some really terrible starts. In 12 starts this year he’s had eight with 1 earned run or less given up (including 3 complete game shutouts), and four with 4 earned runs or more (including 3 with six earned runs given up). His most recent start was a complete game shutout against the White Sox. Only 3 Nats have faced Morrow and only LaRoche has hit him, going 2-2 with a HR and a 2B.
